A lot of people ask us how to save money in the kitchen. Inflation has both food prices and particularly fuel costs. Here’s a few Eco Energy Tips to cut bills.
Switch devices off at the socket. The average UK household paid £60 in 2020 just powering devices left on standby.
Appliances like air fryers and rice cookers use less energy than traditional methods. Steam cooking is 100 times more efficient than traditional convection. Microwaves use even less energy.
Don’t let too much heat escape. Keep a lid on pans, try not to open the oven. Only heat as much water as you need at a time. A kettle is better than a hob for heating water.
Plan your meals. If you know what and when you’re eating you can save valuable cooking time. Only switch your oven on when you really need it.
Timing is everything. Know how long it takes your oven to heat up. You can switch it off ten minutes before the meal is finished too.
The same goes for freezing and defrosting. Let things cool down before putting them in to freeze and via the fridge to dethaw.
Cook a few meals at the same time. Use as much space as you can in the oven. Using your main oven as few times as possible can slash costs.
With a little forward thinking you can make valuable savings and cut bills.
